You should be able to set cooling percentage regardless if the cpu is recognized or not. Are we talking about the same thing here? Some of my cpu's don't report correctly (like the i3/i5 Intels), but I can always set the cooling percentage where I want it (which in my case is nearly always 100%).

The problem is that the MTEC software can't detect the service when running a 6 core CPU, in my case an X5680.

@rickss69: I don't have any 980x but I do have 2 Xeon variants. The W3680 and the X5680. Both have the same problem. I remember running the MTEC software on a 975XE and Win2K3 without any problem.

MTEC Control Center software V1.56 solved my searching USB problem. The program now works with my I7 980 CPU and Windows 7 64 bit system.
