i have the freezone elite about 3-4 yrs now. do i need only the 1366 retention kits so that i can still use my freezone on a new 1366 motherboard. ?? or would there be a problem with the block?

If you have a Core i7 920 the Freezeone Elite (First Version) should handle it's heat output ok.
Yes you'd need to get the 1366 top bracket that sits ontop of the water block and the motherboard back plate.
I'm not sure about the Elite's cooling performance on the new 6 core Intel cpu's, maybe with a different waterblock it would perform a little better?

If you have an Elite unit that’s about 4 yrs old you’ll need the larger block with an updated retention kit.... I recommend that you don’t use your current block on the newer chipsets...

Hi how r u getting on with setting your Elite up?
Did you change the waterblock to a different make / type?

I changed the block on my Elite to a Swiftech GTZ . Fits fine and I do not need to use a Coolit rtention kit for 1366 socket.
Hope you sort it!
