Pure Cooler too wide for the case 2 Years, 5 Months ago Karma: 9
Just received the PURE , it's much larger than I thought .
When I tried to take off the standard AMD cooler to fit the PURE in the case, the CPU came along with it , but undamadge.

The PURE doesn't even fit in my Thermatake Xaser2 Case
I was looking for a new case, but not this fast. I hope it fits in a Coolermaster Cosmos 1000.

When I found out the PURE didn't fit in the case, I tried to put back the old cooler, but I think I damadged the socket. As my MSI mobo is showing 4 red lights => Either CPU damadged or not installed properly. So I need to do some testing which component is damadged, either CPU or mobo.

Anyway, The cooler way is too large for my case.
Letting the buyers know which minimum case width is needed to fit a 12cm cooler, is receommended. I thought I had a large Bigtower, but it's just not too wide enough

Yeah....

The PURE, Freezone, and Freezone Elite are design to mount into a 120mm fan bracket. I believe that case has dual 80mm on the rear of the case.

I grabbed a few photos of the Cosmos 1000 off Google images. Its looks like the PURE CPU cooler will fit.

I really like the changes they made with the Cosmos S case, but the problem with that one is the big side case fan. I already had issues with the Antec P190 case because of the 200mm "Big Boy" fan in the side panel. At least with the Stacker 830 SE, you can remove the side fan tray if you need the clearance.

The problem with giving specs for fitting the coolers is that it isn't actually the case width that's the problem. It's where the fan in the back is placed. Some are placed really close to the motherboard and some are really close to the door.

As for the Cosmos, you shouldn't have a problem there. The Cosmos S on the other hand, as EliteUser mentioned, has a big fan on the door that I've heard can get in the way of the vanity plate on our coolers. It may be necessary to remove the plate to fit it.

I like he looks of the Cosmos S, But I don't like the front. If you have inserted 2 DVD Writers and a BD Writer, the front look is torn apart
Whit the Cosmos 1000, you can shut the door and no1 will see them.

Actually, the case width of the Xaser2 is the problem in my case. Even though it has 2 8cm fans at the back, I would have attached it a different way by drilling 3 new hols at the back.
Problem is that it doesn't fit in any way, it's just 1 mm too wide

Well, I just have to be a little more patient untill I get the CM Cosmos 1000
