Boreas 12 TEC Chiller help 7 Months, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 0
Hi all,

I'm in the process of building my new system after my E8600 took a dive off my desk (only a few months after putting it together) and decided it didn't like that too much.

So now I'm putting together a new system and after buying everything I'm left with the cooling off this beastly machine. The specs are:
Cooler Master ATCS840 custom case
Intel D5400XS Skull trail
Dual Intel Core 2 Extreme QX9775 CPU's
8GB Corsair ram
SLI GTX 295's
a nice 300GB raptor
Enermax Galaxy EVO 1250W

Since I'm going all out with it (the case was just under $1000) i might as well do it the way i want and go for water cooling because the air cooling solutions out there are just not up to it, and two Cooler Master V10's wont fit.

This will be my first system going for water cooling and I'm wanted the Boreas 12 TEC as seen on FrozenCPU. Is that all i need to run water cooling or do i need a water tank as well as this?

where are you planning on mounting the Boreas unit at? doesnt look like there is a lot of room in that case and the Boreas unit isnt small. I have my Boreas setup in a Lian-Li 2010 case and i had to modify my case to get it to fit.

That's a good question, the case as i said is near $1000 so i haven't ordered it yet. It was only last week i bought my 2nd GTX 295 and motherboard. So for the time being I'm using my HAF 932 from my E8600 build.

The reason that I'm going through FrozenCPU is that that can do custom braiding on all the connectors, so when i get my case it will be powder coated candy purple (inside) and black with sound protection, all the cables done in purple, the PSU done in purple cables and the cooler it self done. Getting it done there saves a lot off messing about if i was to do it my self and they do it professionally so i wont stuff anything up and void warranty's changing molex plugs around.

EDIT

After looking around i seen a ATCS 840 mod with the Boreas cooling in it and to fit it in they had to remove all the HDD bays and use the DVD ones. That's ok for some but i have my 300GB Raptor and 2x 1TB storage and I'm going to get 2 LCD fan controller's that take up 2 bays each, so the ATCS 840 isn't looking like the case I'll be getting instead I will probably get the Lian Li Cube and do the same power coating and sound padding with it instead.
