ECO A.L.C. power supply, noise of pump 4 Months, 3 Weeks ago Karma: 0
I have my ECO A.L.C. now for 2 days up n running in my core i7 system.

now i have some questions:

1. is the orientation the pump is mounted on the cpu of significance (seen different mountings on different pics and vids on the web)?

2. can the radiator go to the upper vent hole of my case (antec p182) or is the rear one mandantory?

3. can i use the motherboards (msi x58 pro) powersupply for system fans or is it safer to go with direct power from psu?

4. if using motherboard can the throtteling offered by the motherboard be used on the pump or is this non advisable?

5. i noticed some noise of the pump - not as dead quiet as i expected - or is something wrong?

6. in case i want to replace my current core i7 920 cpu (gulftown might be my next upgrade) - is there any thermal compound you recommend / you advise not to use in conjunction with ECO A.L.C:?

7. can you provide any test numbers on temps one should expect using ECO A.L.C. with a core i7? i suspect my 44C (22C ambient) to be too high - since my i7 920 is at stock clock - surely i could ramp up fan speed of the 120mm fan to 100% using mobo control for that - but this would defeat the purpose of getting as noiseless as possible - i simply miss any reference numbers to judge whats safe and needed

calios,

Here are you answers.

1. Mount the ECO ALC with the wording readable.
2. The radiator can be mounted anywhere.
3. The ECO ALC was designed to be controlled by your motherboard.
4. You can use your motherboards fan regulation options to control the pump and fan on your ECO ALC unit.
5. The pump does spin and create a very small amount of noise.
6. Any high-end thermal compound will work. Ours works best with our units in our testing.
7. You can expect the ECO to run about 5C above ambient temperature at idle on your i7 rig.
